Eén van de mooiste uptempo nummers dat ik ken is Pastures Of Plenty van de Ierse groep Solas, met zangeres Karan Casey. Probeer dan maar eens stil te blijven zitten! Ze combineren op schitterende wijze Ierse traditionele muziek met country, rock & Americana.

Het lied werd geschreven door de Amerikaanse singer/songwriter Woody Guthrie (1912-1967) in 1941, die de muziek baseerde op de 18e eeuwse Engelse murder ballad Pretty Polly. Guthrie was één van de belangrijkste artiesten in de Amerikaanse folkmuziek, zeer sociaal bewust en actief voor de onderdrukten in de samenleving. Zo schreef hij o.a. het lied This Land Is Your Land (1940). Hij heeft grote invloed gehad op o.a. Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash & Tom Paxton.

Pastures Of Plenty van Solas komt van hun derde album The Words That Remain uit 1998 en ze spelen het hier tijdens de viering van hun 10-jarig bestaan in 2006.
