De Canadese singer/songwriter Catherine MacLellan was één van de ontdekkingen op mijn lijst met Beste Songs van 2022. Zij is de dochter van singer/songwriter Gene MacLellan (1938-1995), die zijn hele leven geteisterd werd door depressies. Hier zingt ze het prachtige & troostrijke lied I Wake To Dark Morning.

Ze zegt er zelf het volgende over: “I wanted to share with you a song that I’ve been playing recently, but wrote a number of years ago when I’d get up at 5am, light the fire and wait for the day to start. It’s a beautiful thing to wake up when the rest of the world seems to be sleeping. And as a mom and a writer, it was a productive time for me. Quiet, introspective time.”
